What Separates EcoLite-EXP Fixtures
Flameproof Enclosures
Contain any internal ignition source and prevent propagation to the surrounding atmosphere. Meets IEC 60079-1 and UL 844 standards for use in explosive gas atmospheres.
Purge & Pressurization
Maintain internal electronics in a safe state by continuous positive pressure, keeping hazardous gases completely isolated from electrical components.
Intrinsically Safe Design
Limit electrical energy to levels incapable of igniting hazardous atmospheres — even under fault conditions.
"When you're specifying lighting for a Class I hazardous area, there is no margin for error. EcoLite-EXP provides the documentation, the certifications, and the application support to get your project compliant and approved — the first time."

Hazardous Location Lighting — Answered
What is the difference between Division 1 and Division 2?
Division 1 locations contain flammable gases or vapors under normal operating conditions — continuously, intermittently, or periodically. Division 2 locations contain the same materials only under abnormal conditions such as equipment failure or accidental rupture. Division 1 requires full explosion-proof enclosures; Division 2 allows some purged or non-incendive designs.
Are EcoLite-EXP fixtures UL listed for hazardous locations?
Yes. All EcoLite-EXP fixtures carry UL listing under UL 844 and meet NEC Article 500 requirements. We provide complete documentation including UL listing numbers, temperature class ratings, and group classifications for your EHS and insurance records.
What does ATEX certification mean for LED fixtures?
ATEX certification is the European equivalent of UL hazardous location listing, meeting EU Directive 2014/34/EU and IEC 60079 standards. EcoLite-EXP ATEX-certified fixtures can be deployed in US and international hazardous facilities, simplifying procurement for global operations.
How fast can I receive certification documentation?
Our technical team responds within 4 business hours with complete documentation: UL listing numbers, installation data sheets, temperature class ratings, and approved group classifications. For critical shutdowns or turnaround projects, expedited documentation is available on request.
